Shiro has significant experience in human resources at major Japanese and foreign capitalized companies. After graduating from Waseda University with a degree in Business Administration, he started his career at Nissan Motor Corporation in HR. He was subsequently promoted to positions covering all HR matters for company managers (2,600 GMs and Managers) including training, performance evaluation, internal transfers, inclusion and diversity issues. He was involved in major compensation and benefits design programs and development, as well as implementing global training programs, particularly in the US and Mexico.
After Nissan, Shiro held HR leadership roles in Tokyo and overseas at Ford Japan, Baxter Limited, Lucent Technologies and the Zurich Insurance Company. He has been involved in, and dealt with, Japanese labor unions, major mergers and other strategic issues multinational corporations face in Japan and globally and led those companies through major changes and difficulties from an HR point of view.
